Lustine Toyota complaint by Justice29708
After moving here from GA and my check engine light come on I took my 2000 Tundra to Lustine to fix the problem so that I could get a VA emissions. I dropped my car off Thursday night to have it serviced on Friday. They called my at 4pm Friday saying that they did not know what the problem was possible the gas cap needed to be replaced. They also said rear brakes needed to be replaced or it would not pass state inspection. They called back at 630pm and stated that my truck needed a charcoal canister $500 or my vehicle would not pass inspection. The promised vehicle would be ready Saturday morning. After having to call several times on Saturday they said my vehicle should be ready around 2pm. Took them 2 days to change gas cap and replace brakes. After refusing to have them replace the $500 canister they assured me it would not pass emissions. On monday it passed emissions with no problems. Makes me wonder if they were also lieing about the need for brakes.

Service depart. are nothing but liars and thieves.

and I am sure a few days later your check engine light came on. I seriously doubt that your rear brakes were bad.

I am not a fan of Toyota dealers. most, in my opinion are rip-offs. Front brakes generally last about 30-40k miles and rear brakes about 50k on your truck. So, just check your odemeter since the last brake service and that will give you a good measure if indeed you did need the new rear brake pads.
